1.0    Rules revision

1.1 Changes to Rule 9 : It was agreed unanimously to change rule 9 : to the following : Teams involved in games that are called off because of bad weather or a County Cup tie,  or called off on the day because of bad weather or unplayable pitches will be awarded one point. However they will have the option to play the match at a later date with the normal points rules applied and both will retain the point previously awarded.

1.2        A change was also made to rule 5 in order to clarify the intention of this rule. It is a guide to ensure that the competition is played within the “spirit of the leagues” i.e. good sportsmanship and fair play and not as a policing mechanism to penalise or disqualify games. There is a duty on clubs to ensure that the players are of the appropriate level and not to load teams with players who normally play for a higher team in the club.    In the event that a club cancels a Merit League game but plays a Social League game then they should inform the opposition and if the two competing clubs agreed it was a Social league game despite a Merit League game being cancelled then it will be a valid game. The rule will therefore change to : If a club is unable to field both teams for arranged fixtures in the Merit League and Social League on the same day then they should endeavour to play the Merit League fixture.

 Sponsorship

At the conclusion of the thirteenth season of the Tees Valley Leagues, thanks once again to Ian and Stuart Fawcett of The Water Wheel Inn, Ashley Deakin of Carlsberg for their sponsorship of the Leagues. It is only with the support of the sponsors that the TVL can continue in its current successful format and offer a set of shirts and individual trophies to the winning teams. Thanks also to the England RFU, Durham RFU and Yorkshire RFU for their support and a special thanks to the referees from those societies for turning out every week as without them we would not have the leagues.
